Jazlynn Perez Reflection

These PowerPoints were some of my favorite presentations ever. It truly showed a bunch of strangers coming together to get a job done, which is exactly what these presentations were about. I love how fast we all got used to each other and how helpful everyone was. I never felt alone. All my peers did so good in presenting their information and delivering the message so well. I truly learned so much about the importance of group work. I learned that leadership is a process where an individual influences a group of individuals to achieve a common goal. I learned about maintenance roles such as supporters, interpreters, harmonizers, mediators, and tension relievers. I also learned about procedural roles such as logistic coordinators, expediters, gate keepers, and recorders. I learned about the five key shared leadership responsibilities: be committed to the group goal, keep discussion on track, complete individual assignments on time, encourage input from each member, and manage conflict among members. I learned the guidelines for meeting leaders: prepare and distribute an agenda which is an outline of the whole meeting to have an overview of the meeting, decide who should attend the meeting (it means the leader has to pick the people who will attend the meeting) it depends if the leader wants a person to attend, manage meeting logistics is a great way to delegate tasks to other group members while also overlooking their progress, speak with each participant prior to the meeting is the best approach this way everyone is properly prepared for anything being asked to the leader or the group. I also learned that before a meeting you should come prepared, understand the subject being spoken about, and question any doubt that you may have about the subject. During the meeting you should try and comprehend the information being provided and make sure you are giving your full attention and ask questions. After the meeting, analyze how constructive the information was, what could you have done different, and ask yourself if all of your doubts were answered clearly. I learned the importance of written formats and how they provide detailed review of the problem-solving process, is organized into sections that parallel the problem-solving process, include an executive summary, and contains statements of the problem background information description of any alternatives and major conclusions. It is usually one or two pages long, Describe the problem, background, process, decisions, and rational. It is also a quicker way to introduce the reader to the group’s product. I learned that oral grief is a summary of a written brief delivered as an oral presentation by one group member. I also learned that an oral report is similar to a comprehensive report, but it provides more detailed review of a groups problem-solving process in a topic. I learned that a panel discussion is a problem-solving discussion by the group in front of an audience. One member will introduce the topic and provide structure by asking questions related to the situation. Usually seems spontaneous and interactive. I also learned what symposium means. Oral reports delivered by group members before a gathering of people who are interested in the groups work. A symposium may be used so that the speaker speech focuses on one step of the problem-solving process or it may be organize so it speak covers all the steps in a problem-solving process. I also learned what a remote access report is. It is a computer mediated audio visual presentation of the group. Affective  RATS usually consist of no more than 15 to 20 slides. R a RS may be silent or narrated. When narrated the speaker should provide additional or exploratory information. These are just some of the specific things that I learned. I learned a lot more. I learned about community, helping each other in hard times, working through all the technical difficulties, studying the material, learning though others and their teaching, using my time wisely, seeing us come together to make things happen and just figuring out college life together.
